Important Announcement to NetFree Users Using Google Chat

As we have already written in the past, for several years – and following many reports – we are aware of the damages and numerous issues that exist in Google Chat groups. With G-d’s help, over the years several measures were taken in order to minimize the harm, but from time to time we learn from reports about new issues, and we are constantly trying to reach appropriate solutions to these problems.

Alongside addressing the existing issues within the groups themselves, it has become clear that even in groups whose content is appropriate and properly managed, there are users who misuse the Google Chat platform. Troubling individuals are causing enormous spiritual and emotional harm through it, and we cannot elaborate further in order not to cause greater damage.

After seeing that the main problem exists in public groups where the connection between members is created only through chat, and not for justified reasons such as work, family, or studies, we have reached the conclusion that moving these public groups to another platform will reduce the problem.

Therefore, in the coming two weeks we will begin blocking such groups on the Google Chat platform.

To be clear, work groups, family groups, and the like will remain open as usual, subject to the standard declaration.

We call on group administrators to visit the dedicated information page in order to learn about possible ways to transfer/copy the activity to other platforms.

The implementation of these rules allows us to preserve the use of Google Chat for proper purposes.

As an added benefit, users will gain from moving the groups to a specialized platform, including the option to define groups by topic, so that, for example, someone who is blocked from news will not have news groups opened for them, and so on.
